Human Impact On the ecosystem

One way humans have an impact on the Petrified Forest is killing. Speeding motorists often endanger the lives of the organisms living here by killing them, especially the tarantulas, pronghorns, rabbits and snakes. There is a 27 mile long road running right through the National Forest and is named Petrified Forest Road.
Another way humans have affected the Petrified Forest is by stealing pieces of the petrified wood. It is very treasured and people tend to ignore the signs prohibiting taking souvenirs directly from the park.
Both of these impacts are negative. Speeding motorists are interfering with the ecosystem which can be risky considering that this is a very unique ecosystem. Also, removing the wood is bad because it's not like the wood can be replaced. The wood took thousands of years to be created and isn't going to be replaced. So every time someone takes a piece of wood that's one less piece the park will ever have, at least in the time that we are living.
